Four Year Secondary Program
The four year Secondary Education Program degree consists of 120 units of course weight (*120) overall. All students in the Secondary Route must choose a Major teaching subject (*36) and a Minor teaching subject (*18), which prepares them to teach specific subjects. Available majors and minors are listed in the University of Alberta calendar. The Secondary Education route includes 14 weeks of student teaching: the Introductory Professional Term (five weeks) and the Advanced Professional Term (nine weeks). Students usually teach in their Major subject specialization in both their IPT and APT.
